Midnight Ink is a three-artist appointment-only studio on Skalitzer Straße, working in fine line, neo-traditional, and dense blackwork. We open books once a quarter and we don't accept walk-ins.
Midnight Ink opened in 2017 in a small back room off Skalitzer Straße. We moved across the courtyard to the current space in 2021. There are three of us — Tamsin, Otto, and Nuray — and we share the studio without a manager, a receptionist, or a single piece of corporate signage.
We work by appointment only. Books open once a quarter, on the dates posted on the home page. Each of us takes about eighty pieces a year. The waitlist is not a list — it's an open request window that closes after 96 hours, and we read every submission.
We will not tattoo you on your first attempt. We probably won't tattoo your friend's idea, either. What we will do is design something carefully, talk it through with you over a 45-minute consultation, and then bring it to skin once it's right.
A small selection from 2024 and 2025. The full archive lives on our private booking page; this is enough to show you whether we're a fit.
Each artist takes their own consultations and manages their own books. The studio is shared; the work is not collaborative.
Single-needle and very fine line work. Botanical, anatomical, and the occasional small piece of handwritten text. Tattooing since 2014; at Midnight Ink since 2017 (founder).
Heavy blackwork, ornamental sleeves, and back pieces. Dot-stipple shading. Big projects only — minimum half a day. Tattooing since 2012; at Midnight Ink since 2019.
Neo-traditional with a soft, painted colour palette. Animals, particularly birds. Takes one large piece a month plus four to six small ones. Tattooing since 2016; at Midnight Ink since 2022.
We open requests once a quarter. The dates are posted on the home page. You submit through the form below — there is no DM, email, or Instagram booking. We read everything and we reply to everything, including the no's.
A €120 deposit secures your spot. The deposit is non-refundable but transferable to a friend up to two weeks before the session. We are deliberately strict on this — we lose two full days a month to last-minute cancellations.
What we don't do: Walk-ins, same-day tattoos, white-ink only, finger tattoos, hand tattoos as a first piece, face tattoos, anyone under 18.
We do not match prices, give "friend rates", or do tattoos for exposure. We're a small studio and our hours are scarce; we charge what allows us to keep being small.
The studio is on the second floor of a Hinterhaus on Skalitzer Straße — through the courtyard, up one flight, the door with the small black square. There is no signage and the buzzer says only "Croft". The space is two rooms: a front room with a sofa and a kettle, and a working room with the chairs.
If you have a booking you'll have the door code by email. If you don't have a booking, please don't come up — we genuinely can't help you at the door, and the other artists are working. Submit through the request window. We promise it's the fastest route.
Every piece we do is designed for that person. We can't make that happen in a half-hour, so we don't try.
We don't tattoo minors, with or without parental consent. Bring a government-issued ID to your consultation.
Eat properly two hours before. Bring water, a snack, and something to do with your hands. We provide blankets.
For 24 hours before. Aspirin and ibuprofen count. Paracetamol is fine. Coffee is fine, in moderation.
The waiting room fits a partner, a friend, or a parent. Please not more.
Our aftercare instructions are on the receipt; please follow them. We touch up for free in the first 90 days if needed.
