Movement & recovery · Fitzroy

A studio for the whole week,
not one workout.

Reformer Pilates, barre, cycle, small-group strength, and a recovery room with an infrared sauna and two cold tubs — one building on Gertrude Street. Book class by class, or take the lot.

What's in the building

Five ways to train, one front door.

Every class is capped and taught by someone who can see the whole room. Start wherever makes sense — nobody moves up a level without being asked first.

01

Reformer Pilates

45 / 55 min · Foundations to advanced · 12 beds

Springs, straps, and a teacher who actually watches you. Foundations runs as a four-week course before you join the open timetable — it is the difference between liking reformer and quietly giving up on it.

02

Mat & Barre

45 min · All levels · 18 spots

Low-impact, high-repetition work at the barre and on the mat. No dance background needed and nobody will ask about one. Grip socks required — we sell them at reception for $22 if you forget.

03

Cycle

30 / 45 min · All levels · 22 bikes

One dark room, twenty-two bikes, and a playlist that does half the work. Shoes are included and clip in for you; the first ten minutes are always setup and easy pedalling, so a first-timer can find the pace.

04

Strength

50 min · Beginner to intermediate · 6 per coach

Small-group barbell and dumbbell work in blocks of six weeks, six people to a coach. You keep the same program and the same numbers written down, which is the whole point of doing it in a group instead of alone.

05

Recovery Room

40 min · Drop in · No class needed

Infrared sauna at 55 °C and two cold tubs held at 9 °C. Three rounds, fifteen minutes hot and two minutes cold, guided by a staff member the first time you come. Book it on its own — you do not need to train first.

I came for the reformer and stayed for the sauna. Six months in, it is the only membership I have never once thought about cancelling.

I had never done a barre class and assumed I would be the worst person in the room. Priya put me at the front. I have been back twice a week since.

Before you come

The questions we get at reception.

Do I have to book, or can I turn up?

Book. Every class is capped and reformer is almost always full. Reformer opens ten days ahead, everything else seven days ahead. If a class is full, join the waitlist — about one in three waitlisted spots comes free.

I have never used a reformer. Where do I start?

Foundations, a four-session course in a group of six, $180. It covers the machine, the springs, and the five sequences that show up in every open class. After that you can book any reformer class on the timetable.

What do I need to bring?

A water bottle and grip socks — socks are required for reformer and barre, and we sell them at reception for $22. Towels, showers, dry shampoo and cycle shoes are all provided. Nothing else.

Can I use the recovery room without taking a class?

Yes. It books like any other session, $29 for forty minutes, and it is free for unlimited members. A staff member walks you through your first contrast round. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, talk to your doctor first and let us know before you book.

What is the cancellation window?

Eight hours for most classes, twelve for reformer, because someone on the waitlist needs enough notice to get here. Cancel inside the window and the class is used. Memberships can be suspended free for up to eight weeks a year.

Is there parking?

Two-hour metered spots on Gertrude Street and free parking on Napier after 18:00. The 86 tram stops at Smith Street, two minutes' walk. Secure bike racks are in the laneway behind the building — ask at reception for the gate code.
