(and zero tears.)
A pediatric dental practice in Minneapolis built around one idea: that kids should look forward to the dentist. Gentle exams, honest answers for parents, and three dentists who actually know how to talk to a four-year-old.
No surprises. We'll walk through everything before we begin, and your child gets to pick the toothbrush color before they even sit down.
Wave to the fish tank, pick a sticker, get the tablet for the waiting room (or the book corner if you prefer).
We show your child every tool we'll use, in a friendly voice. They get to "test drive" the mirror and the polishing brush.
Tooth count, gum check, cleaning, fluoride. We narrate everything as we go. Parents sit right next to the chair.
The most important step. Toothbrush, sticker, small toy, high-five. Plus a quick chat with the parent about anything we noticed.
Every six months. We use kid-sized everything, walk through every step, and never rush a nervous child.
Tooth-colored fillings and protective sealants on permanent molars. Most kids leave the chair without ever feeling a thing.
A bite check by age seven (per the AAPD). We refer to a trusted local orthodontist when treatment is needed.
Sensory-aware visits with extra time built in. Quiet rooms, weighted blankets available, and parents stay close throughout.
Knocked-out tooth, broken filling, sudden pain. We hold same-day slots every weekday and answer the after-hours line.
For kids who've had a hard time at the dentist before. We schedule a no-tools "happy visit" first to rebuild trust.
Pediatric specialist · 14 years. Knows every Bluey episode by name. Has two kids of her own who get the same treatment everyone else does.
Special-needs & sensory-aware care. The calm one. Will spend forty-five minutes letting a child sniff the polishing toothpaste before starting.
Orthodontic screening & growth tracking. Speaks fluent teenager. The one most likely to negotiate a braces deal that everyone walks away happy from.
If we're not in-network with yours, we'll file the claim for you anyway. Self-pay families get a flat 20% discount, and we have a sliding-scale sibling fund for families who need it — no questions, no paperwork.
Per the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, by age one or within six months of the first tooth. The first visit is mostly a "let's meet each other" — we're not doing X-rays on a fifteen-month-old.
For anxious kids we book a free no-tools "happy visit" first. They meet a dentist, sit in the chair, get a toothbrush, and leave. The next real visit is dramatically easier — we've never had it not work.
Yes, always, for any procedure. We'll never separate you from your child. The only thing we'll ask is for older kids: sometimes they're braver when a parent steps to the doorway. We follow your lead.
Very rarely. For most fillings, nitrous (laughing gas) and topical numbing are plenty. We refer out to a hospital-based pediatric dentist for the few cases where oral sedation is genuinely needed.
Self-pay families get a flat 20% off all services. We also have a small sliding-scale fund for families who need additional help — ask at the front desk, no application required.
Yes, through age 14. After that we'll happily refer to a general dentist we trust. Dr. Lila is particularly good with the 11 – 14 range — she takes braces conversations seriously and never talks down.
New patients fill out one short form. We confirm by text within a business day, and your first visit can usually be within two weeks.
